3.Chemi-Bioluminescence Assay using Liposomes for Nano-scale Reaction Environments

Enhanced Firefly Bioluminescence with Cationic Vesicles

Cationic surfactants are used as cell lysis agents in bioluminescence assay of ATP derived from microorganisms for hygiene monitoring, but these surfactants inhibit bioluminescence reactions. Accordingly, liposomes are used to eliminate surfactants from the bulk phase by incorporating them, and the inhibitory effect disappears. The cationic vesicles formed also help to enhance bioluminescence reactions.
